Kid Pix


11th & 17th March

Kid Pix is open-ended software that can be used at all levels. It is invaluable for capturing children's imaginations, instigating investigation and encouraging creativity.

The practicum will provide:

· instruction on how to use the software;
· ideas for integration into a number of curriculum areas;
· inquiry learning links;
· internet links to source ideas for classroom application;
· the opportunity to plan one idea of how you could use Kid Pix in your classroom.



Digital Numeracy


18th & 25th March, 28th & 29th July, 4th August

By using ICT in maths children can manage large amounts of data and get instantaneous feedback, enabling them to explore maths problems that would not be possible with pencil and paper only. Computers foster mathematical thinking, help students understand ideas, and can make maths more engaging.


The practicum will provide:

· time to explore software that you have on your laptops already and that you can download free from the internet;
· a wide range of curriculum integration ideas for all levels;
· inquiry learning links;
· online links for software and resources your children can access in the classroom and from home;
· the time to explore and play with online resources;
· the opportunity to plan one idea of how you could integrate ICT into your math programme.



Digital Literacy


11th & 19th August, 20th & 27th October, 3rd November

The practicum will provide:
· examples of digital story-telling;
· online links for software and resources for integrating into your literacy/inquiry programme;
· The role of planning, process and production in digital storytelling;
· time to create a digital story using an innovative piece of software i.e. SAM animation, Photo Story, Voicethread;
· the opportunity to plan one idea of how you could integrate digital storytelling into your literacy programme.


Digital Art


4th & 17th November

This practicum will explore expression through technology.

The practicum will provide:
· examples of digital art;
· online links for software and resources;
· graphic design and photography;
· inquiry learning links;
· time to create a digital art using an innovative piece of software i.e. GIMP, Kid Pix;
the opportunity to plan one idea of how you could integrate digital art into your classroom programme.
